Sea lavender on the marsh
We love the colours and details in this beautiful midcentury landscape. It is the work of an artist who has been described as one of Sweden’s best known water colourists and art educators, Arne Isacsson (1917–2010). He was the founder of the Gerlesborg School of Fine Art and became famous not only for his paintings, but also for his interest in materials. He was a professor of watercolour technique, a famous educator, and authored textbooks on oil and watercolour techniques. Isacsson’s motifs are close to nature, taken from the cliffs and sea of Bohuslän.
54cm x 38cm including the wooden frame (painted in a soft gold, with a wooden slip). Signed.
