Rimini Blue Bitossi midcentury Italian lamp

£285.00

We are big fans of of midcentury Bitossi lamps: they are so wonderful and distinctive. This one is from the Rimini Blu collection, 33cm tall from base to the top of the bulb holder. Rewires (fabric covered flex cord) and pat tested.

Guido Bitossi established his own ceramic craft works near Florence in 1921. Originally named Manifattura Ceramica Cav. Guido Bitossi & Figli (a mouthful), the company name was later shortened to Bitossi Ceramiche.

After WWII, Bitossi appointed master ceramicist Aldo Londi (1911-2003) as his creative director, a position he held for more than fifty years. He is best known for his 1950s-era collection Rimini Blu (1955-1965). This iconic midcentury modern series contains over 150 designs including bowls, vases, jugs and animal figurines - all glazed in a vibrant blue hue and embossed with abstract motifs and shapes. The collection holds historical importance because it helped to bring handcrafted and expressive works into the modernist design conversation in Italy.

Here seen in a bespoke James Hare silk shade (not included but do get in touch if interested in purchasing).
